In this very simple to follow step-by-step tutorial, I’m going to walk you through the exact process of how to setup your web hosting, domain name and WordPress installation — ultimately leading up to going live with your very own blog.
How to Setup Blog and Your Web Hosting Account
Click here to claim our exclusive 60% off web hosting coupon with Bluehost. You will then be sent to Bluehost and it will look like the screenshot below, where you can then click on the green “Get Started Now” button.
Step 1 – Select a Hosting Plan for Your Blog
I highly recommend going with the “Prime Plan” package, as it’s only a few dollars per month and will allow you to get up and running in no time. You will also receive over $80 a year in extra bonuses that include domain privacy, spamexperts and site backup pro. An even bigger incentive to going with the Plus or Prime hosting plan is that you will also get $200 in marketing offers. This in itself is enough to cover the first year of your hosting fees.
NOTICE: When signing up for a hosting plan, you will need to decide on how much you want to pay for upfront. I highly recommend you go for 12, 24 or 36 months… as this will save you the most money. The applied discount is only good on your initial purchase. Refer to the screenshot below to see what I mean. (note: the Prime plan is usually $14.99 per month, but now only $5.95 when you secure hosting for 36 months)
Again, I highly recommend you go with the “Prime Plan”, as this is more than perfect for anyone starting their first website or blog, and also allows you to set up an unlimited amount of websites or blogs under one hosting plan. You can see a comparison of all hosting plans below.
Step 2 – Choose a Domain Name for Your Blog
The first step in the sign-up process is to register a new domain or put one in if you already own it.
This is pretty self-explanatory, as you can see in the screenshot below. Just type in the name you would like for your site and Bluehost will then let you know if it’s available or not. If you are going to select a free domain name to go with your hosting package, simply perform this action in the “new domain” box area. If you already have a domain name and don’t want to register a new one, type your domain into the “I have a domain name” section. Then click next.
Step 3 – Enter Your Account Information
The next part of the web hosting process is to enter your personal details and billing information. Payment can be made through credit card or Paypal.
Don’t worry, Bluehost is one of the largest and most reputable hosting companies in the world. Your information is safe and secure at all times. You can see a quick summary of the hosting details below as well. Your set up and final pricing may vary based on which hosting plan you decide to go with. Also be sure to uncheck any boxes for services you might not need, as this will ultimately lower your monthly hosting costs as well.
Once all of this information looks good, you can simply make sure all of your personal and billing information is correct, then click on the green SUBMIT button.
